Dearest Mariana,

I haven’t seen you in what seems to be forever. I wish you had not moved to France. I miss talking to you, taking long walks, and talking about the future. The sun must be attracted to you, since you left the weather here in Argentina is becoming worse by the week, I hope the weather over in France is better.

Just you being around made everything more beautiful. Since you’ve left, everything seems to slowly become duller. The flowers have become less vibrant, even my favorite flower, which I love so much, hasn’t been as pretty since you left.

We’re going in a downward spiral. Work is becoming harder to find as more people are beginning to look. The bills are starting to pile up, and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep up with them. More and more people are being arrested by the Censorship Division due to violating the law. Despite this, everyday things are becoming harder to do. I barely have enough money to buy food anymore.

The stores have been becoming barer every time I go. It always seems to be a fight to get even the smallest morsel of food. The amount of food I get every week doesn’t even seem to be enough for a rat to eat. I wonder what the food’s like over in France. If it’s as heavenly as I’ve heard it is, or if it’s just like the food we eat here.

Love,

Juan
